History amongst elegance and comfort
A fabulous hotel set in the old city, the 17th century building has been lovingly restored with care and attention to detail. A calming and tranquil colour palette of creams, beautiful stone and tiles with interesting textures set the scene for a relaxing stay. The rooms are well appointed – plenty of power points, desk, chair, ottoman and comfortable beds. This is the first hotel I’ve stayed at that has memory foam pillows. We stayed in the large room with the vaulted ceiling – really something special. It, and many other rooms, also had a balcony, ours overlooking the bell tower. The bathroom was good, with one of the best showers I’ve had in Europe – large shower head, good water pressure and lots of hot water, and no leaks!!
The breakfast room is elegant and the continental breakfast offers a good range of cereals, yogurt, fruit, eggs, including scrambled to order, cheese and meats. Good espresso or American coffee.
The hotel is well situated for easy walking to major attractions such as the Duomo San Cataldo with its stunning inlaid marble panels and airy dome. Across the bridge there are some lovely parks, a pedestrian area with lots of cafes and shops. For my money, one of the best things to see is the Archeological Museum. It is world class with a stunning array of Greek and Roman sculptures and pottery and some outstanding Roman mosaic floors. There is also Castello Aragonese, the Spartan Museum, Taranto Sotterranea among others. There are also many good fish restaurants in easy walking distance.
The owner, Cinzia, is gracious and welcoming, and is enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the history of Taranto and Puglia. The staff, including Fabio and Antonio, are friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff maintain the hotel spotlessly.

Charmingly restored hotel in the ancient port city of Taranto
Tastefully decorated rooms with a touch of quirkyness and a lot of respect for the building’s historical heritage. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable about all things in the city. We've got some very good restaurant recommendations. Taranto as a city is very interesting, not only because of its sea location or its history, but also because of its people.

Lovely place and great staff
We visited this hotel in September and we'll be certainly go back. The staff at the reception was extremely kind and after showing us the amazing room (301, the one with the private balcony) they brought us a welcome drink. The room was spotless and nice, and we really loved the private balcony, which had a stunning view of the sea and the old city. Breakfast was delicious with an amazing selection of fresh pastries and cakes, fruit, and savory options. It was the perfect stay for our days in Taranto, and note we know where to go next time we are in Taranto!!

Wonderful / Lovely
My motto is very simple : no hotel is better thant the reception that you get. Having spent 4 days in the wonderful city of Taranto / Italy, it was clear to me that the staff of this lovely hotel , l’ARCANGELO, was mainly chosen for their NATURAL kindness, their warmth and their readiness, not to mention their excellent competence. The ARCANGELO , beautifully restored , is a real jewel. Moreover, it is very well located as you find yourself in the middle of an authentic “tarantese quartiere” full of fisherman where “osterie” serves the freshest fish that you will ever eat. You don’t even need a GPS to access the hotel as its location is very easy when you step in this marvelous city, and , when you go for a walk, you already are on the fantastic corniches oand promenades of Taranteo Needless to say that Greek and Romans knew exactly where to build their cities.. Go to Taranto / Italy, go to L’ARCANGELO

Eccezionale
Hotel was re-constructed recently so everything was so new and clean. The room was exceptionally clean with nice lighting and nice touches like a stone-covered wall and a cute balcony. The location and view was perfect. The staff were so nice, friendly, helpful and made sure that I had everything I needed. Also their breakfast was amazing. Thank you for everything :)

Fantastic!
This hotel exceeded our expectations! We stayed one night only but it was great! The location is great and at the beginning of the old town. We had free on site parking for our car. The room was spacious and had a great big balcony. The mattress was to our liking. The breakfast was delicious! We’ll definitely come back and recommend it to our friends.

Ideal place from which to explore Taranto.
Location excellent - easy to find at one end of the Old Town. Within easy walking distance of the new town, the old castle, the archaeological museum and the Duomo.
Good continental breakfast with lots of choice.
Free street parking immediately outside hotel - completely safe in our experience.
Exceptionally helpful reception team
